PricePoint Eyes Acquisition of Analytics Firm to Access Competitor Data
Deal Could Give Consulting Firm Access to Startup's 7.4M Data Points on Rivals

In what would mark an aggressive expansion move, tech consulting firm Pricepoint Partners is reportedly exploring the acquisition of an Israeli competitive research and data analytics startup, according to sources familiar with the matter. The target company, which remains unnamed, was founded by veterans of Unit 8200 - Israel's elite military intelligence unit that has spawned several multi-billion dollar cybersecurity companies.
If completed, the acquisition would give Pricepoint access to over 7.4 million data points tracking customer retention, lifetime value, and conversion metrics across the software industry, giving the firm a much better idea of how to deliver results.
The move bears striking similarities to Facebook's 2013 acquisition of Onavo, a VPN service that provided the social media giant with detailed app usage data - intelligence that reportedly informed its $3 billion acquisition offer for then-rising competitor Snapchat.
The Israeli startup's technology could provide Pricepoint's clients with detailed competitive intelligence, potentially offering unprecedented visibility into rival companies' performance metrics. This would represent a significant evolution in Pricepoint's service offering, moving beyond traditional consulting & development sprints into truly differentiated competitive analysis.
Unit 8200, where the startup's founders cut their teeth, has become something of a kingmaker in the cybersecurity startup world. Recent success stories include Wiz, which reportedly turned down a $23 billion acquisition offer, Fireblocks, valued at $8 billion, and Island, which reached a $3 billion valuation.
The acquisition talks underscore a growing trend of consulting firms seeking to differentiate themselves through proprietary data and analytics capabilities, rather than relying solely on traditional advisory services.
Neither Pricepoint Partners nor the potential acquisition target publicly commented.
